Christmas Stockings

Hello friends!  I'm sharing another door panel I bought at our Habitat for Humanity Restore.  We've rented a cabin for Christmas and I wanted a stocking holder for the great-grandchildren.

I asked my husband to add a block of wood on the back so we could sit it on a shelf and then I added wood door pulls to hang the stockings from.  I painted it and then, using mat medium, adhered some Christmas wrapping paper.  All the embellishments were cut with the Cricut.  The Cricut was given to me by a dear friend, how awesome is that!?  See those tiny white bows on the tags?  So cute!  Made with a fork!  Lots of Youtube videos for those and so simple to make.  Here are the original doors.  You can see the finished smaller one here.

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge:  Christmas (Dec.11)

November Heartfelt Creations Almuni Blog Hop

Hello friends!  It's that time again when we are hosting the Heartfelt Creations Alumni Blog Hop.  As always, you will have the chance to win a $25 gift certificate to shop at Heartfelt Creations.  All you have to do is comment on each blog that is participating in the hop.  The hop starts 8am EST on Tues. November 25th and closes Fri. November 28th at midnight.

I bought some cabinet door panels from our Habitat for Humanity ReStore and repurposed them into Christmas decorations.  I used the Frosty Blanket Paper Collection for the main image and then framed it with poinsettias.

Using a paper back book, I folded half the pages to make a Christmas tree.  I stamped the Noel image and added it along with some more flowers.

And then, just for fun, I created a little snow lady with a flower hat and buttons.  And now that I'm looking at the pic, I think I need to make a snow family.  She looks rather lonely.

Here is the list of products used.  I have indicated which products are available for just a short time.  You might want to take some time to browse through the items on sale (some 50%!), it's an awesome time to stock up before they're gone forever!

Warm Cozy Christmas

Here we are, on the road again, and time for me to do more digital work.

When I saw the theme at Digitally Sweet Challenges, (Cozy Winter Moments) I searched for a digital scrapbook kit with a fireplace.  I found a gorgeous kit 'Christmas Time' by Didine Designs at CoolScraps Digital Boutique.  The scene in the window is from Lunagirl.

Digital layouts are such fun to create; I spent several hours playing with all the beautiful elements.  I don't think there's anything I enjoy more on a cold winter day than a fireplace.

Reindeer Pals

Another sweet image from Lacy Sunshine,'Rory's Lil Reindeer Pal'.  I made this for the Facebook challenge but almost missed the deadline, which was today.  This month has flown by, seems I just started my garden and it's already time to put most of it away.

This is a stairstep card and includes several Cricut cuts.  A friend gave me one to use so I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of these cuts until I figure out how to use it. I do think if I buy something it will be a Silhouette.

One of my fav color combinations, besides green and pink!

A sweet image from Lacy Sunshine, 'Tansy Plumray', done in blue and yellow.  The sentiment stamp is one I've had for several years but have never used.  As I'm organizing my craft room I'm finding all kinds of neat things, kinda' like going shopping at home, LOL.

A Thankful Heart

Today I'm sharing a candle.  This is the first time I've tried making one of these; I've always been a little to intimidated to try.  I'll include the directions on how I made mine.

I used an image from Lacy Sunshine, 'Cider Sticky Wings' on the front and then put a sentiment on the back.  I colored the images  with Prismacolor pencils.  You can click on the pictures to get a bigger image.

These do take a little bit of practice to keep the wax smooth.  The next time, I'm going to try without the waxed paper.  I seem to have the most problems around the bottom; the raffia helps to hide it.

The end result is so worth the little bit of practice that I know I'll be making a lot of these!

Believe

Hello, dear friends!  Today I am sharing a card made with this sweet image from Lacy Sunshine.  In case you haven't heard, Heather has a 'Loyalty Program'; if you use one of her images for the challenge, she very generously offers a free image.  I must admit, I'm somewhat addicted to her images and love collecting them.

I couldn't find any blue paper that fit my image so I used Ranger Faded Jeans distress ink to color my paper.  And then I dug in my scrap box to find some DP for the background.  The sentiment was created in PSE and die cut.  I used my Clear Star pen on her wings and some gold Stickles on the books, which makes the card sparkly, even though it doesn't show in the pics.

Some challenges I would like to enter
Lacy Sunshine:  back to school
Clear It Out:  fav color combo (blue, yellow, pink); anything goes

Inky Chicks:  #36 Fairies or Angels

Hap-Bee Birthday

Hello friends!  Today I'm taking a few liberties with the word 'happy'.  I'm not sure I should have done that; sometimes I worry people won't get what I'm trying to say, LOL.

This is another awesome image from Heather at Lacy Sunshine.  I copied the two bees in Photoshop Elements, enlarged them and added them to the hand stitched border.  I love the ruler I bought from Stampin' Up,  makes it so easy to add the piercing.

Sweet Victorian Lizabeth

Today I'm sharing a card using  Victorian Lizabeth from Lacy Sunshine.

Lately, I've been trying to make cards with less embellishments to make them easier to mail, but this incredibly sweet image just made me go back to my shabby chic roots.  The background is made with the 3 largest dies from the Spellbinders Majestic Labels 25 set.  The swirls, sentiment and larger flowers are stamps and die cuts from Heartfelt Creations; the smaller flowers are punched and colored with distress inks.  I added pearl centers and then finished with some Stickles.  I also added some Stampendous Shabby White Embossing Enamel around the image, which has been colored with Prismacolor Pencils.

Heartfelt Creations July Alumni Blog Hop

Hello, sweet friends!  Once again it's time for our Heartfelt Creations Alumni Blog Hop!

The winner of this hop will receive a $25 gift certificate to shop at Heartfelt Creations, you just need to email Emma Lou with "Winner of July Alumni Hop" in the subject line.  The hop will close on Friday Aug. 1st at midnight.

Today I'm going to take a break from my calendar and share a Christmas card.

I stamped the flowers, colored with Prismacolor pencils, and then cut out in 2" circles.  The center sentiment was covered with Glossy Accents and then layered onto the decorative circle from the 'Once Upon A Time Die'.

Tip: I never liked the way my paper buckled when adding Glossy Accents.  I've now learned that covering the back with a repositional dot tape runner and sticking it to my craft mat will keep it flat till dry and prevent buckling.

The scalloped border is created with Spellbinders A2 Scalloped Borders One die.

Crafting Fun

Hello friends!  I can't believe another week has come and gone, where does the time go!?  So it's time for another new challenge at Digitally Sweet Challenges.

Theme
Embellish It Up!

For this card, I used Crafting Bear from Coosty Creations, along with the digital papers.  The embellishments are from my stash.  The image was colored in Photoshop Elements.  For most of the image I used the gradient tool.  I used a noise filter on the bear for a textured look.

This will be my last post for Digitally Sweet Challenges which makes me a bit sad.  I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of such an awesome group of designers.  Thanks so much, Karen and Denise, for allowing me to play along.  God bless!

I hope you will join us this week: we would love to see your orange creations!

Christmas Under the Sea

Last week Heather, at Lacy Sunshine, had offered a choice of 2 images for her 'Loyalty Program' digi.  I chose 'Sheldon C. Turtle', such a cute Christmas image!

I used a snow pen on the furry parts of his hat that is supposed to puff up when heated, but it didn't work.  So, rather than throw the image away and start over, I used Stampendous Shabby White Embossing Enamel over it and now the white parts of his hat are all sparkly.  I've had this paper stack for ages and decided it would be perfect for this image.
Thank you, Heather, for this cute image.

Sweet Memories

Hello friends!  Once again it's time for another new challenge at Digitally Sweet Challenges.

Theme

These sweet victorian images are from LunaGirl Vintage Images.  The frame is a shape in PSE, which I duplicated.  I used the eye dropper to choose colors from the pictures for my background papers, added a text layer and reduced the opacity.  I needed something to define the sentiment so I used a tag, using a blending mode, and erased around the edges to make it fit the sentiment.  The color of the ribbon was changed to match the LO.

So now I hope you will join us with your fun, boy creations!

Thanks for visiting and have a blessed day!

Christmas in July

Hello friends!  I was watching a video on making a telescopic card and decided I needed to try that.

Now, there are a few things about my card that I don't like.  For one, I added the circle while it was open and didn't notice that the sentiment was a bit wonky.  And IRL those hearts look O.K. but in the pic, not so much!  But I did enjoy the process of making the telescopic card; I think there will be some more in my future.  Thanks Barb for a great video!

Heartfelt Creations June Alumni DT Hop

Hello, sweet friends!  Once again it's time for our Heartfelt Creations Alumni Blog Hop!

The winner of this hop will receive a $25 gift certificate to shop at Heartfelt Creations, you just need to email Emma Lou with "Winner of June Alumni Hop" in the subject line.  The hop will close on Friday June 27th at midnight.

Today I'm sharing my July calendar page.  Originally, I was planning to do a patriotic theme but my thoughts kept going in a different direction and so I decided to follow my heart.  This page is dedicated to our daughter, Wanita.  Dec. 26, 1963 - July 2, 2013.

Each page has a pocket; this is the pull on the tag.  I will show all of the tags next time.

There's an amusing little story connected to  this picture.  When I realized my printer was out of ink I put several small pics on a 4x6 in Photoshop and took it to WalMart to print.  The saleslady took one look at this and said "This looks like a professional picture and I can't sell it to you."  I was completely shocked!  I tried to tell her that I took the picture, but she wasn't getting the picture, LOL!  But when I know 100% that I am right, I stand my ground!  And in the end, I got my picture.  Whew, she had me going for a minute!  (Maybe I should have been flattered that she thought it was a professional photo but I was a bit too upset to think about it.)
