You're So Sweet!

It's time for a new challenge at Digitally 'Sweet' Challenges and this week we have a photo inspiration.

sponsored by

This week I did 2 cards, 1 digital and 1 paper.  It's really called 'hybrid' since I designed it on the computer and then printed out all the pieces and then put them together.  First, the digital version.  Lil Scoop, from Lacy Sunshine, is so adorable!  I colored her with PrismaColor pencils and then scanned the image back into my computer.  I didn't have any ice cream paper (and I really wanted some, LOL), so I copied her cone, colored them digitally, and then created my paper.  The sketch for my card is from i {heart} sketches.

And now for the paper version.  I always like punches/diecuts with holes suitable for stitching.  I used embroidery floss to stitch along the edge.  The faux brads are punched circles shaped with an embossing tool and then given a coating of stickles.  A very quick card to put together!

Celebrate Friendship

It's Friday, time for a new challenge at Digitally 'Sweet' Challenges.

Theme
Celebrations

Sponsored by

Several years ago my husband and I took the Home and Garden Tour which supports our women's shelter.  During the tour I received the most awesome surprise!  At one of the homes we met two of my very best friends from my teen years.  Arlene, the parasol lady (she was a hostess), and I hadn't seen each other since we were 21!  What a celebration we had!

To help my dear parasol lady blend into the background, I used 2 layers.  The first was set to soft light, the second to overlay.

Burst of Color

Here we are, Friday, June 14, 2013.  Time is flying by so fast; I'm afraid I'll wake up tomorrow morning and it will be Christmas, LOL!  We have some exciting news to share at Digitally 'Sweet' Challenges, and here are the details.

Hi everyone!! We have been doing some soul searching here at DSC - as you know, Denise and I started this challenge in hopes of keeping it 100% digital, but we've come to the realization that some of you just aren't ready for that yet, but are interested in learning more about it. So, with that being said, we are excited to announce that we are going to change things up a little! You can now enter our challenge with a digital image on a traditional layout, card or project! BUT, there is a little extra reward for those doing 100% digital:

  • ALL entries now qualify for TOP 3 and giveaways
  • 100% digital will get TWO entries in the giveaways
So we're still encouraging you to be as digital as possible, but we want to recognize all of you who enter our challenge. For some of you that are just starting to play with digital images, we want to recognize you to! We'll be looking for tutorials that we can post for you to learn a little more about the digital world and maybe, in time, you'll jump in with both feet and give it a try! We're always here to help!!!!!!!

So, be sure to join us on Friday as we kick off a new challenge with new possibilities!! Cya then!!!!!!

The theme for this week is a photo inspiration.

Several weeks ago we were visiting our son in Georgia, and when we came home our flower gardens had exploded into color!  I just got out of the car and walked around the yard, leaving my poor husband to unload the car by himself!  I did finally manage to go in and unpack.  Thankfully, he's a good sport, LOL!

I'm afraid my time on the computer will be very limited for a while; hopefully I'll be able to pick up again later.

Happy Fathers Day

It's time for another new challenge at Digitally 'Sweet' Challenges.

Theme
Make it Masculine

Today I made a digital fathers day card using this awesome gardening bunny from DigiDarla!  My husband spends much of his summer in our flower gardens so I knew this image would be very appropriate for him.  The image is colored with PrismaColor pencils and then scanned into PSE5 to complete the card.

I hope you'll join us with your 100% digital creations!

Grandmas Don't Talk Like That!

It is, once again, Friday.  Which means it's time for a new challenge at Digitally 'Sweet' Challenges.

Theme
Tell Me A Story; journal to your heart's content

This LO is one of my favorite memories.  Mercede (our DGD) was taking voice lessons and had just finished an awesome concert.  Afterwards, we took her and her sister out for a snack and this is what transpired.

Journaling
We took Mercede and Raven to Dairy Queen and during the conversation I happened to say that I like to use lots of 'bling' on my scrapbook pages. The girls 'cracked up'!  At that moment a car went by that was obviously a teenager's car (had cool little blue running lights) and I quite innocently said, "Wow, that car is 'tricked out'!  The girls were hysterical!  When I asked why this was all so funny, they said, "Grandmas don't talk like that"!  Who knew?

Love Is

Hi everyone, it is the last Tuesday of the month so today is the beginning of the Heartfelt Creations Alumni Design Team’s monthly Blog Hop.  If you'd like a chance at winning a prize, be sure to leave a comment on each blog along the hop by Friday - there is a $25 gift certificate up for grabs for one random commenter!  The blog hop will remain open for comments from 8am EST on Tues. May 28th through Fri. May 31st at midnight.

To create the flower, I die cut the Posy Patch flower from polyester satin, netting, and a doily.  The fabric flowers were curled using a heat gun.  The center is made from wire and beads.

Perfect Strength

It's time for another new challenge at Digitally 'Sweet' Challenges and this week the theme is a photo inspiration

This will be a very short post since we are spending a week in Georgia with our son and DIL and, for a short time, don't have any internet.  So we are sitting in McDonald's parking lot enjoying the most perfect weather!

Who can account for the thoughts an image will bring to our minds?  This one made me think of the scripture that says  God will make my feet like hinds' feet, setting me on my high places.  This photo was taken in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

I just realized that I forgot to bring my paper that listed the credits for my LO, I will add that as soon as possible.

I hope you will join our challenge, I would love to see your interpretation of the photo.
Thanks for visiting and have a blessed day!

Biker Babe...NOT!

It's time for a new challenge at Digitally 'Sweet' Challenges

I admit, I'm a bit of a 'fraidy cat!  Our sons loved their motorcycles and one day they convinced me to take a ride.  Poor guy, it's a wonder he's not deaf, LOL!

Leather usually makes me think of brown but this time I used a leather tooling design (from ScrapGirls) over the DP as an overlay.

Sweet Honey

It's always fun to find new artists (at least, to me) and their wonderful images.  This week I found Alicia Bel and you can find her shop here.  You can find the challenge blog here.  Little miss Honey caught my eye and I have had so much fun creating this card.

Don't you just love her stockings!?  I used the net bag my lemons were packaged in behind the diecut to try and emphasize those lovely stockings (hose?).  Whatever, I love them!  I also tried to make my own 'Washi Tape' with masking tape.  It's been colored with Creative Inspiration Paint (Sunshine  and Bright Yellow) which gives it a beautiful shimmer, and then stamped on it.  I added some stickles to the flowers for some extra sparkle.

For the inside of the card, I used the negative from the green diecut on the front and then added the yellow diecut center.  On the other side I added some more of my tape.

Thanks so much for visiting and have a blessed day!

The Beauty of a Mother

It's time for another new challenge at Digitally 'Sweet' Challenges and this week the theme is

Give Mother Flowers for Mother's Day

sponsored by

The picture in this LO is of my mother when she was 15.  I have very few old pictures, so I treasure the few that I do have.  The paper and the flowers, which I colored in PSE,  are from Cedar Chest Designs.

I must confess, I wasn't too happy with this LO, my mojo seems to have completely disappeared!  Hopefully it will be back by next week!

Thanks so much for visiting and I wish you a very blessed day!
