It's time again for a new challenge at Digitally 'Sweet' Challenges.

Several years ago, we planted some Castor Bean seeds.  I'm thinking I didn't pay much attention to the info on the seed packet because what we thought would be 2-3 ft. plants, became 15 ft. plants!  They looked like tropical trees and were the topic of conversation for the guests who visited our garden.  I haven't planted any since, although now that I'm looking at these pics, I think it would be fun to plant some again.

One word of caution, the seeds are toxic!

Traps of Art

It's that time again!  Time for another Heartfelt Creations Alumni Design Team blog hop!  Which means you have the chance to win a $25 gift certificate, how cool is that?!  And all you need to do is leave a comment on each blog on the hop.  The hop closes Fri. Mar. 29th at midnight.

So today the 'meeces' (if I had any, which thankfully I don't) get to play another day, since I just transformed their traps into works of art, LOL.

I started with the Delicate Asters Paper Collection and then added some pleated trim and pearls around the edges.  I used an embossing folder from Pat Catan's for the base.

 The springs were painted with gesso. 

A little bit of lace, seam binding, stickles and Dazzling Diamonds for the flower centers.

DSC#28, Spring/Pastel Colors

It's time for another Digitally Sweet Challenge and this week our theme is 'Spring/Pastel Colors. When our son and DIL moved to Georgia, we discovered Callaway Gardens.  It's one of my favorite places to visit in the spring when the Rhododendrons and Azaleas are blooming.  The sight of all those beautiful flowers always lifts my spirits after our dreary winters.  Did you know that Youngstown, Ohio is #22 in the list of the top 101 cities with the lowest average sunshine?  My immediate area is #35.  No wonder we get grouchy, LOL!  It also explains why I pick up this photo album several times during the winter, just to remind myself that the flowers will return!

A Special Gift For You

I wanted to enter the Sweet 'n' Sassy Challenge which asked for a Z-card but I'm wondering if I stretched the idea too far.  While I was designing, I knew I wanted to use 2 images with a sentiment, but then realized I would need an extra fold.  It's one of the simplest cards I've made.  Lots of layers, a bow with a button center, and some stickles complete the card.  Oh, and a little bit of bling, LOL! I designed the sentiment in PSE and printed it.  The flowers were copied from the hillside image.  

I liked the idea of the bunny, an image from Sweet 'n' Sassy, giving his friend a gift, echoing the thought of the sentiment.

Wishing You a Quick Recovery

Today I played with my Heartfelt Creations Stamps, using the Delicate Aster Vase and the sentiment from the Script Aster Background.  The image is colored with Prismacolor pencils, cut into 3 equal sections, and then layered with pink and yellow card stock.  The card is finished off with some lace and ribbon, and pearl centers for the flowers.
