Butterfly Kisses/Altered Jar

This week at Creative Inspirations Paint our inspiration is butterflies.  I love butterflies and many of the plants in my garden were chosen to draw them to our yard.

One of my favorite songs is "Butterfly Kisses" and I used that as my inspiration for this project.   I love making small decor items that I can tuck into little corners here and there.  Recently, I have fallen in love with altered bottles.  This one is an antique jar that has a metal wire to hold the lid on securely.

I used lots of lace, seam binding, an old necklace, a flower I made from some ivory and pink flower petals I had left over from a wedding project.

The butterflies are a Spellbinders die; love those butterflies!  I very lightly distressed them with distress inks and then spritzed them with some glimmer mist I made with my Creative Inspirations Paint 'Fairy Dust', one of my favs.  I use (approx.) 20% water, 80% alcohol, and a few drops of paint.  I  LOVE using these paints as glimmer mist; so super sparkly!  You can see the sparkle on the flower.  Awesome!

I printed the lyrics for the song, cut them out with some decorative scissors, inked them, and placed them in the jar, along with some lace, seam binding, and the word 'love' in several different languages.

Here is a better pic of my handmade flower. Love how it turned out.

And, I just couldn't resist; I had to add a picture with my granddaughter!   This is one of my fav baby pictures.  Can't believe she has now graduated from high school!  Where did the time go?

Thanks so much for visiting and have a blessed day!

  1. What a beautiful altered project Sarah! I love the flower on the top. I have some of those petals and need something to do with them. Maybe I'll give this a shot. Your grand daughter's a cutie. Bet she's beautiful now. My how fast they grow! Can't wait to get the paint I won at CIP and play with it. Hugs!
